Every year, over 900 homeless children in Denver struggle to meet the basic needs of getting back to school- we need your help! The Child Rescue Foundation began the Pencil Box Project in 2002 to serve the children who are working toward their high school graduation with the help of Denver Kids Inc. With the help of generous individuals and organizations in the greater Denver area, we have helped over 2,200 children get the supplies they need to successfully complete their schooling.

Face Painters Needed
We are looking for face painting volunteers. This is a wonderful opportunity to work, hands on, painting the faces of children ages 1 – 99. Face painters are expected to work quickly with each child, while being friendly and enthusiastic. Experience is not required! Children can pick from a pre-made book featuring simple designs such as ladybugs and stars. Of course, you are welcome to try your own designs as well. This day should be fun, rewarding and full of creativity, for both the children and yourself.
WHY: Log on and give the gift of Art.
… Raising awareness of the impact of violence on children with their art. Children donating artwork will gain the knowledge that their messages of hope will help another child in crisis. Eighty cents of every dollar from this auction will go to children in need, children who have been victims of domestic violence and/or abuse. We need volunteers for that day to face paint (no experience necessary) and people to help children create art. Call us today for more info or log on to www.cr-foundation.org for more info.
Donate your coats! New and slightly loved please.

Through our Family and Children’s Division we have a visitation program providing the opportunity for parents to have court ordered visits with children who have been removed from the home. Not only are these children the victims of child abuse or child neglect, they come from the poorest families in the metro area. These visits are not only a time when the family can enjoy being together, but it is also a time when staff teach parenting skills to the parents.
Our Human Service Advocates are the staff working with these children. They know the children well and are able to give a suggestion for a gift that they know that the child will like. Donors are provided with the first name of the child as well as their age, gender and a suggested gift idea. Gifts are then dropped off at the department and the staff oversee giving the gifts to the children.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 720-944-2485.
To find out how to become involved, please contact us mid September annually for instructions on becoming a Santa.

The Child Rescue Foundation Clearinghouse, Inc., dedicated to meeting the wishes for children and families impacted by violence since 1999 are working with many corporations, schools and faith organizations, with kids, to collect supplies for back to school. How many supplies are needed? As many as we can collect, as the over run will be stored for use throughout the year for students in need. Our annual Make A Difference Day, in partnership with the USA Weekend Newspaper, spend the fourth weekend of October collecting, tagging, and delivering all supplies collected to the community.
