WHO:
The Child Rescue Foundation, Inc., (CRF) has a mission to provide financial aid to families and children impacted by trauma and violence. We continue to establish outreach and referral programs that provide a holistic approach to recovery for youth and families that have been impacted by violence. We are working in conjunction with children in the Denver Department of Parks and Recreation afterschool program and Barnes and Noble Booksellers.
WHAT:
Children participating in the after-school program will create works of art for the “HeArt Through a Child’s Eyes” Auction. These works of art will include four themes, “What does my family look like,’ “What does my world look like,’ “What do I want the world to look like” and “What does hope look like.” All children will donate their artwork to the Child Rescue Foundation, Inc.
WHEN:
4th of July weekend annually Saturday and Sunday / Opening day TBA-Sidewalk Kids Art Chalk Contest
WHERE:
The Child Rescue Foundation, Inc. art committee has reviewed all submitted artwork and select approximately 75 pieces for the auction. Selected children’s artwork is displayed at Barnes and Noble downtown store windows, as well the 2 nd floor of the Barnes and Noble Booksellers. All other submitted pieces will be used for next year’s greeting cards. We will post photos of the artwork online.
HOW:
Visit us live at Barnes and Noble on the 16 th Street Mall Pavilions or on line from June 28th thru July 17th. Questions may be directed to Joanne Kappel at the Child Rescue Foundation, Inc. via e-mail or by phone at 303-628-0477. Or visit, www.cr-foundation.org and log on to make a difference in the life of a child.
WHY:
Raising awareness of the impact of violence on children with their art. Children donating artwork will benefit from this experience by gaining the knowledge that their messages of hope will help another child in crisis. In addition, each child who sells a piece of artwork will receive a book from Barnes and Noble Booksellers. Eighty cents of every dollar of the proceeds from this auction will go to children in need, children who have been victims of domestic violence and/or abuse.
PHOTO OPS:
Providing financial support to children and families impacted by violence since 1999.
